Your
need

Your need

Four situations that lead to custom web or mobile app development.

  • Founder with an idea

You have a clear app in your head, and nobody to turn it into a product people can actually use.

  • Early-stage startup

You need to put a first version in front of users or investors, without spending a year and your whole budget on it.

  • Everything goes by phone

Your clients would like to follow their orders, their documents or their appointments online, and everything still goes through the phone.

  • Team out in the field

Your staff work away from the office and need a mobile app that keeps working when the signal is poor.

The
scope

The scope

What your app development covers, from scoping to publishing on the stores.

·
_01 / 12

We list what the app has to do, and above all what it will not do in its first version. That is what holds the budget.

·
_02 / 12

I map out how the screens follow one another before writing code, so it is obvious to pick up with no manual.

·
_03 / 12

You handle a mock version of the app and get people around you to test it before development starts.

·
_04 / 12

Reachable from a browser, or installed on iPhone and Android. The choice is made at scoping, based on how your users will actually use it.

·
_05 / 12

Registration, forgotten password, roles and permissions. Everyone sees what they are meant to see, and nothing else.

·
_06 / 12

A dashboard to manage your users, your content and your data without having to go through me.

·
_07 / 12

Online payment, email sending, calendars, invoicing software. The app talks to what you already use.

·
_08 / 12

Encrypted exchanges, passwords never stored in plain text, daily backups, hosting in Europe.

·
_09 / 12

For mobile, I handle the developer accounts, the artwork, the listing and the submission to the App Store and Google Play.

·
_10 / 12

The important journeys are checked on every change, so that one fix does not break something else elsewhere.

·
_11 / 12

I watch the errors your users actually hit and fix them, rather than waiting to be told there is a problem.

_12 / 12

The source code and the database are yours, and I hand them over whenever you ask.

Leafline

A mobile app delivered with its full visual identity, for an agritech startup. It is built to be picked up in the field, with no training, by farmers who do not spend their day in front of a screen.

The answers

Price, timing, iPhone and Android, publishing: the questions asked before starting an app.

A phone-friendly website is enough in most cases: it costs less, it updates instantly and it can be found on Google. An installed app earns its place when you need notifications, the camera, location or offline use. We settle it in the first conversation, with both prices in front of you.

The price depends on how many features make it into the first version, and cutting that list down is exactly what the scoping workshop is for. Budget from 10,000 euros for a first publishable version, with its accounts, its admin area and two or three main journeys. A full platform, with several roles, integrations and heavy traffic, goes beyond 200,000 euros. I do not quote a range at random: after the first conversation, you get a quote costed module by module, and you are free to push back anything that is not essential at launch.

Yes. I build one shared base for both systems, then adjust the details specific to each. In use you get two apps; to pay for, you have one project instead of two separate builds.

Submission takes a day. Review by Apple and Google takes anywhere from 24 hours to a week, sometimes longer if a point in their guidelines is worth discussing. I prepare the full package, developer accounts, artwork and privacy policy, and handle the exchanges with them.

Yes, most of the work happens remotely: first conversation, design sign-off, progress reviews and training all take place over video, and you follow progress on a preview address you can open whenever you want. I travel when the situation calls for it. Distance has never been the issue; responsiveness is.

That is where I come from: cloud infrastructure. The hosting is sized to absorb the peaks and can grow without rewriting the app. You do not pay from day one for capacity you will only need at a thousand users.

The App Store and Google Play accounts are opened in your name from the start, never in mine: you keep control of your listings and your access. I retain the intellectual property of the code until the project is paid in full, as is standard practice; once the balance is settled, I hand over everything, source code, database and documentation. The app is written with widely used technologies, so another developer can take over without starting from scratch.
